Three Ways to Style a Gingham Shirt

I’ve never been much of a long-sleeved-shirt-in-the-summer type person, but this year I got a shirt that finally makes me see what I’ve been missing. I picked this gingham beauty up at T.J.Maxx for $16.99 and I’m so glad I did. It’s light and breezy enough that I can wear it on a 90-degree day and I still stay cool (and more covered up so it’s great if I am going to be outside in the sun!). Never saw that one coming. Think I’ll be looking for more light and breezy long sleeve shirts in the future.

Here are three ways I’ve styled this shirt for summer.

1. Summer Business Casual Gingham

For this look, I paired the gingham shirt with these Liverpool Jeans Company “Madonna” stretchy black (almost ponte type material) jeans/jeggings (got these from Stitch Fix and I LOVE ’em). Then I added a black-gray and gold statement necklace from Francesca’sΒ and some cute Steve Madden black peep toe ankle boots/shooties that I picked up from Macy’sΒ when they were on sale for only $41 a few weeks ago. Huge score!

2. Casual Summer Dinner or Errands Gingham

For this more casual look, I went with longer length Lucky Brand jeans shorts (from T.J.Maxx a few years ago), espadrille wedges (Uggs, quite a few years old), and added bright, chunky turquoise jewelry (necklace and bracelet are from eBay several years ago). This was a perfect summer look that went from an afternoon of running errands straight to an evening dinner with friends on the outdoor patio of a cute little bistro. Truth be told I think I’ll change out these denim shorts for white jean shorts and maybe a bolder heeled shoe when I wear this outfit again to make the turquoise jewelry stand out more.

3. Supah-cazh Saturday Morning Gingham

For this look I wore the same long cutoff denim, but I switched out the espadrilles for Superstars (got these from Asos — aren’t the silver stripes cool?) and ditched the turquoise statement jewelry for green-blue Stella & Dot earrings (Sentiment Stone Drops in Ocean Quartz) which you can’t see due to my hair, a delicate gold Stella & Dot Aurora necklace (which you also can’t see in this picture because I put it on just after the photo….oops), and a set of beaded tassel bracelets from Purple Peridot. I wore this on a rainy Saturday morning and it was so comfortable andΒ effortlessly stylish for hanging out with my family.
