Before this past fall, I haven’t really worn any plaid flannel since the 90’s. Now I’m back on the flannel bandwagon again, especially since the newer flannels seem to be lighter weight and have a teensy bit of stretch, making them drape really prettily and feel comfortable on either a warm or chilly day.
Also, newer plaid flannel shirts for women tend to be a bit longer than they were in the 90’s (unless you sized up back then or wore men’s shirts…c’mon, you know you did sometimes). With this extra length, they’re great for wearing with leggings or skinny jeans. I love how they can be dressed up or down, too.
This is an outfit I’ve worn for running errands and going out to lunch on weekends. Full disclosure: I actually wore this to school last Friday. Yes, those are leggings and sneakers, but I think they’re dressed up just enough with jewelry and confidence to be okay for a casual Friday teacher outfit. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking with it. Especially since this outfit was so comfortable!
