It has been so hot lately! The kind of hot where the best you can hope for when you’re outside is the slightest hint of a breeze. When it’s this hot, there’s something about dressing like you’re actually in the tropics walking on a sunny beach or boardwalk — rather than in Illinois sweating like a pig.
This tropical palm kimono from Stay Fierce Boutique absolutely fits the bill for my vicarious vacation. Need one? If you shop at Stay Fierce Β and use promo code EVERYDAYTEACHERSTYLE at checkout, you can get 15% off of your entire order!

I like both long and short kimonos, but I’m glad this one is on the shorter side. With a pattern this bold, a little is a lot.
I debated on what to wear WITH this kimono. At first I had on this white tank and some bermuda-length distressed denim shorts. That looked good, and I also liked it with some shorter destructed denim cut-offs, but I settled on white shorts to let the print do all of the talking.
Then of course before I headed out I grabbed my summer staples, including this sweet Steve Madden straw fedora which lately I can’t seem to leave home without because (1) I love how it shades my eyes and hair from the sun and (2) it means I don’t have to do my hair! Yay!
Now I would really like to try out this kimono with a black bikini on a gorgeous white sand beach lined with brilliant blue water. However, since I haven’t worn a bikini in years and I have no plans to visit any beaches in the near future (boooooo!), this fun tropical kimono is the closest I’m going to get. And really, I’m okay with that. Mostly. π
