Wax Buffalo Giveaway – Scents of the Seasons

Wax Buffalo Candle Giveaway

Don’t you love all of the smells associated with fall and winter holidays? Whether it’s pumpkin spice, cinnamon, clove, pine, or cranberry, those scents of the seasons bring an extra layer of sensory goodness that only comes around in November and December. Once Halloween’s over, I can’t wait to break out all of the Thanksgiving and Christmas “smells.” Candles are my favorite way to bring in those holiday scents: there’s just something about the warm, flickering glow of a flame that brings calm and a sense of peace. To help kick off the season, I’ve partnered with Wax Buffalo Pure Soy Candle Co. to host a giveaway! More details on that below.

Do warmth, coziness, and joy have scents? Why yes, I think they do. Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved to light scented candles. However, in recent years I had switched to wax melts because I was worried about the harmful chemicals and pollutants that can be released by conventional candles. Also, when my boys were younger it made me nervous to have open flames in areas where there might also be flying Nerf darts, pillows, balls, not to mention little curious hands. Wax melts smell nice, but you still don’t have that warm, glowy flickering candlelight. Now my boys are older, so I’m not as worried about the open flames, but I still don’t like the idea of burning traditional candles because of the toxins, so soy candles are a much better option.

Wax Buffalo candles are American-made and hand-poured (Alicia, the owner, started the company in her kitchen in Nebraska!), using pure essential oils for scents. And, Alicia’s a Midwest girl, which makes me love the company even more. She grew up in Kansas City and lived in Chicago before moving to Nebraska. To celebrate her Midwest maker pride, she even has a special collection of Midwest-themed candles:

Wax Buffalo was kind enough to send me a Cinnamon + Clove  candle to try. It smells AMAZING! It’s spicy, yet subtle, and the cinnamon-to-clove ratio is perfect. It really puts me in the mood to get a fire going in the fireplace, grab a book, and cozy up on the couch on a snowy day. The jars are so cute — they’re amber colored glass with a white stamped lid. On each of the jars is a white “X.” I love the natural, minimalist style, and they look great with my decor. I’ve been moving the candle around to see how it looks, and basically it looks great everywhere! Right now it’s on my stove, sending the amazing scent wafting throughout the entire house.
