So Many Options! One Simple T-Shirt Dress Styled 6 Different Ways
Spring cleaning means at our house means decluttering those areas that always seem to need it after a long winter: garage, basement, mudroom/laundry room, junk drawers, and – ugh – closets. The types of items that survive a brutal closet edit for me have to tick three boxes: (1) I like it; (2) it’s comfortable; (3) it can multi-task. One thing that will always survive my annual closet reduction in force event is a great t-shirt dress like the one I’m featuring here. Today I’ve teamed up with some of my stylish teacher friends on Instgram to share lots of different ways to style this $15 (yes, really!) dress.

1. Simple Classic
This first look is just the dress so you can see it: it’s the Rolled Sleeve Dress from Turquoise and Tangerine. (Many thanks to Turquoise & Tangerine for partnering with me on this post!) Alone, it’s a soft, slightly stretchy and drapey classic dress. It hits me at the knees (I’m 5’5″), so it’s the perfect length for comfort while teaching or running errands. And you guys, this is huge — it has POCKETS! My dress is navy, but it also comes in black, plum, fuschia, and kelly green. At just $15, you could pick up a few different colors!

2. Everyday Casual
Throw on a denim jacket (shop mine here) and a pair of comfy sandals (like these copper Birkenstocks) and you’ve got the perfect casual outfit. I could wear this for a school day or for running errands on the weekend, and probably anything else in between.

3. Date Night
Swap out the denim jacket for a pretty shawl or kimono, add some heels (like these or these), and you’ve got a great date night look.

4. Sporty Weekend
I love to tie sweaters, button-down shirts (chambray and flannel), jackets, and sweatshirts round the waist of t-shirt dresses. This not only helps define the waist, but it gives you a layering option when the temps are changeable. In this outfit, I went with a striped sweatshirt, bold yellow sneakers, a straw tote, and a fun Panama hat.

5. Work or School
For this look, I simply added a fun leopard belt, a tan clutch, and walkable wedge sandals. This outfit is comfortable enough to teach in, no matter whether you’re going up and down stairs, working at your desk, or hopping around from student to student in the classroom.

6. Layering Tee
Did you know you could turn your t-shirt dress into a, well, t-shirt? By adding a front or side knot, or simply tucking it in, you’ve got a loose-fit style tee to wear with pants, skirts, or jeans. I styled mine with a neck scarf, red crossbody bag, skinny jeans, and gingham slides.
